Inn from the Cold - Fresh Start

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

Recently Inn from the Cold acquired a second Journey House building located in the community of Bridgeland for the purposes of providing supportive housing to families. With Centron Cares help, as well as their valuable trades, suppliers and consultants, the interior of the building was renovated and by the end of November this year, the once tired old building evolved into10 fresh new three bedroom suites deserving of single and two parent households of more than two children.

The expansion of the IFTC Journey House supportive housing program represents a significant resource within the spectrum of care dedicated to serving vulnerable children and their families. Families can stay as long as needed to develop the life skills to achieve independence with the goal of never returning to homelessness.

In addition to the construction work at Journey House II, Centron was moved with the good works of IFTC and saw a great opportunity to learn and become more involved with them, as well as introducing others to their organization through the sponsorship of a “Fresh Start Package.” Each participating group completed the shopping, delivering and setting up of a unit with home and kitchen essentials and accessories – giving families a “Fresh Start!”

From Centron employees, trades and suppliers, consultants, friends, real estate brokers, to our kids and teammates – 10 Fresh Start Packages were completed this past Saturday.

Centron Cares and leaders like those who participated in the Journey House II building project and fresh start initiative  have been making a difference across the City and with a range of social agencies.  In some instances, Centron is constructing a new facility for children and families in need.  In other areas, we are making things right with the essentials of daily living. Regardless of the need, Centron Cares vision is to have a visible and measurable impact.  In short, we seek opportunities where there are real results.

We are so thankful for the participation of many in this worthwhile and meaningful project. The resources provided will be put to tangible and immediate use and will make an impact.
